#BTS: Beauty, Inside And Out

"Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!" While we had our first shoot, we got the scoop on our makeup artist, Heather Rae Cheszek. She shared with us her beauty secrets, her go to products, and what makes her job so rewarding. Read more below.

How did you get into this industry?

I guess I started 12 years ago. I started off as a hairdresser in my hometown Chicago and through working with clients and being in studios I thought it would be a good asset to also learn makeup. My goal was to do everything in the industry.

What is your favorite beauty tip?

Learning to work with what you have. The most beautiful you can be can come from what nature gave you. And for makeup, just because you see it in a magazine or Pinterest doesn’t mean it's right for you or what really learn what fits you. Be yourself. And moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

What beauty product do you believe is a must have?

I think my Bumble and Bumble shampoo and conditioner in my shower is a must have. My skincare go to is Clé de Peau Beauté Clarifying Emulsion . MAC face and body foundation for makeup because it gives a dewy glow without to much coverage, and of course lip balm!

What is your rewarding part about being a makeup artist?

The most rewarding part is I get to bring out the best in all the people I work with. I’m also really lucky I get to work with beautiful models a lot, but also because I get to work with all of the creative people who are in the background of every shoot like the stylist, the creative directors, the photographers. Also meeting other hair and makeup artists because I continue to learn from them always. I inspire people and they equally inspire me.

What inspires you to do certain looks?

Makeup can be really transformative. So its fun to go from something clean and classic to being able to play up with certain things like fun eye colors or blushes.
